If the FrontPage Photo Gallery component doesn t provide all the flexibility you need, a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services picture library might provide a closer fit. This type of library can hold far more pictures than a FrontPage Photo Gallery component. Any number of authorized Web visitors can upload pictures, and those pictures immediately become available to other visitors. Windows SharePoint Services picture libraries provide a wide variety of viewing formats, one of which appears in Figure 24-8.

Authorized people can also view and modify Windows SharePoint Services picture libraries by using the Microsoft Picture Library program included with Microsoft Office 2003. This is a Microsoft Windows desktop program, and thus has a richer user interface than any Web 665

Automatic journaling can cause very long delays during manual or automatic save operations as well as when you exit the application. Although it might appear that the application has stopped responding, in fact it is simply saving the journal information. If your system stops responding during these procedures, check Outlook 2007 to see whether automatic journaling is turned on for the speci c application involved. If so, wait a minute or two to give the application a chance to save your data, and then turn off automatic journaling if it has become too inconvenient to use. In Outlook 2007, choose Tools, Options, and then click Journal Options on the Preferences tab to open the Journal Options dialog box. 2. In the Automatically Record These Items list, select the E-Mail Message check box. 3. In the For These Contacts list, select the contact whose e-mail you want to record. 4. Click OK twice to close both dialog boxes.

The primary disadvantages of Windows SharePoint Services picture libraries is that you must have a Windows SharePoint Services Web server available, and SharePoint Sites are generally more suited for use as corporate, departmental, or project portal sites rather than as generalpurpose Web sites. Of course, a portal of that type might be just what you need!
